Description

"You dropped your sword? Too bad, hopefully today is a good day to die. Wait! Your opponent has taken two steps back and gestured for you to regain your weapon! As you grab it, your opponent offers you a blade salute, there is no doubt—you face a Knight. You are lucky enough to face someone who wishes for you to die with honor."

The Knight seeks more than the simple victory a warrior seeks. A knight wants victory through honor and justice. Knights live by a code dedicated to life and law. It is a strict code that forbids a Knight to lie or ambush a foe by any means. It forbids any non-conventional warfare such as alchemy or poisons. This code does allow the use of magic, but a knight is limited to first learn either earth generalist or healing. Once that is completed, a knight is free to study any other magics, but must never use or learn necromancy. Necromancers and undead are the enemy of all knights.

While many may shun such a regimented life, there are benefits to be gained from it. A knight disciplines his mind and body to learn abilities that aid his life‘s quest of honor and justice. Those abilities and their build costs are shown below:

Knight Abilities

Character Level Build Point Cost Ability
3 Free Lay on Hands
3 1 Repel Undead (EG,2)
4 1 Cure Disease (EG/D,3)
6 2 Turn Undead (H,4)
8 3 Purify Poison (EG/D,5)
10 Free Bravery
10 3 Zone of Life (H,6)
12 4 Heal Mortal Wounds (H,8)
14 5 Annihilate Undead (H,9)
16 5 Revive (H,9)
25 Free Lifestrike

A knights devotion to ending necromancy results in a certain resistance to necromantic magic. There are quests knights undertake that initiate them into more powerful strikes and abilities.

Knight's Code

Most knightly orders follow a general code such as the following, although some knightly orders may require more of you:

  • Honor your word.
  • Honor your lord.
  • Service creates strength, strength brings justice.
  • The role of the strong is to protect the weak from those who would injure them.
  • Truth is a weapon as great as your sword, your honor is your greatest shield.
  • Never bring shame upon yourself or your lord.
  • Cowardice is shame, but a knight who dies foolishly rather than nobly is equally shamed.
  • Never break faith with a friend or ally.
  • The sneak attack defines a coward.
  • Life is to be celebrated, death for a knight should only be for service. Undeath is a mockery of life and is to be eliminated.
  • Treat all other knights with respect, shun those who don’t live up to their ideals.
  • Combat is between warriors, not fought from a distance; Use your sword, not the distant arrow.
